Last week saw the people of Sheringham get together to officially launch Sheringham Community Support.
At the start of the pandemic Sheringham Town Council were able to rally a large group of people together to offer mutual support to the neighbours on their street, offering to do shopping, prescription runs and check-ins for people that were living alone or were unable to get out of their house. Since that time they have dealt with a huge number of requests for help, and supported the most vulnerable people in their community, to make sure they were able to live through such a difficult time more happily and independently.
Appreciating the huge benefit the group was having to the community, it was decided that this support network should be a permanent fixture, so the team decided to move forward with Sheringham Community Support becoming a stand alone constituted group, and become part of the Norfolk Good Neighbour Network.
The meeting bought together both the volunteers and co-ordinators to celebrate the achievements of the past year, share positive volunteer stories, and appoint those individuals that will be heading up the group moving forward.
We wish them lots of luck and look forward to working with them in the future.
