Your voice, our future

18th March 2024  |  By Caitlan Mackay

All VCSE groups should consider the impact of NCC budget, even if they are not directly funded by them for services.

Why?  Well, our sectors services play a vital part in supporting people who rely on public services or help to prevent people from needing public services.  Our impact can be hard to measure, but we usually only exist to address a particular challenge or issue that hasn’t been met elsewhere in the system.

Whilst the Council needs to cut costs, where those cuts are made will have a very real impact on us, in terms of more people needing help, or people with more complex issues needing our support.

The voluntary sector is an integral part of the public services system. Charities, voluntary organisations, and other purpose-driven organisations deliver services and support that communities need and deserve. They fill gaps in existing services and build long-term relationships in communities. They can be very flexible in responding to changing needs.

Charities’ ability to deliver high-quality public services in partnership with government has never been more important and that is why we need to prepare for any likely implications of these cuts.

NCVO explores the true cost of delivering public services here and you can share your experiences here.
